Dogs on Site – a reminder.

5th April 2022 By jackieglass

As a reminder , and after recent incidents , can all parents/carers/relatives please note :

  • Dogs (except assistance dogs) are NOT permitted anywhere on our site . This includes all paths , areas, yards, carparks , fields . Signs are clearly displayed to this end on all fences and gates.
  • If visitors, parents or carers do not comply with this rule, they are deemed fully responsible for controlling the animal, unattended dogs remain the sole responsibility of the person who brought the dog onto school premises.
  • The person bringing the dog onto school premises is responsible for cleaning up any excrement and will be held responsible for any negative interactions between the dog and people including bites, scratches, and any other physical contact.

Please do not cut through the school site to the playing fields with dogs during the school day. The fields should not be used to exercise dogs , either on or off the leash. If any uncontrolled dogs come onto the school site at any point , the dog warden or police will be called.

NB: This advice has been received from Health and Safety Dept. at Durham County Council .

Great North Air Ambulance Assemblies

11th March 2022 By jackieglass

We were pleased to welcome Debs and Amanda from the Great North Air Ambulance Charity this morning . They came into our assemblies with KS1 and KS2 to talk about the important work that the GNAA does to help people who are seriously hurt and injured , in order to get them to hospital quickly. We found out lots of interesting facts such as the air ambulances have helped 17,000 people so far , they fly at 200mph and it costs £60 per minute to operate them  ! The children asked lots of good questions and enjoyed seeing mascot Miles the Bear at the end.

School Council helped decide on the Charity the children wanted to support in the summer term, and out of all the different charities suggested, the GNAA was by far the most popular. We hope to fund raise next term , as this term we are fund raising for the people of Ukraine.

World Mental Health Day: Friday 8th October- wear green or yellow !

1st October 2021 By jackieglass

We will be marking World Mental Health Day in school on Friday 8th October. Children may wear something green or yellow with their uniform, ( keep it simple- a ribbon, a home made badge, a t shirt or clothing with these colours) and staff will be completing some work during the day to explore how to keep a healthy mind as well as a healthy body.

We are collecting a £1 donation via Parent Pay which we will donate to Young Minds , a charity which supports young people’s mental health.

School Uniform – an update.

6th September 2021 By jackieglass

We have had  a few queries regarding issues with uniform from our suppliers Emblematic, including information that the company may be about to fold.

We have spoken to the CEO this morning and been reassured this is an issue with submitting accounts and the company is not about to close.

We do need to be made aware of any parents who have not yet received uniform orders so we can share this with the company, who have assured us that any supply issues will be looked into.

If any tracksuits have been received missing the printed logo of the school name on the reverse they can have these printed in school, as we have been told the printing machine can be brought in by Emblematic. We are waiting for confirmation of a suitable day to carry this out.  School will update parents with details by text.

In the meantime can we apologise for issues to do with uniform but these are for the most part out of our control. We will however monitor the situation closely and may consider a different supplier in future if issues are not rectified to our satisfaction.
